Umayyad Mosque
I visited Damascus this week-end and I was really amazed by how many different kind of arabesques the Umayyad mosque had. Apparently it also used to have the largest golden mosaic in the world but in 1893, a fire damaged the mosque and many mosaics were lost. Some have been restored since.
You can see various beautiful arabesques below. They were done by workers from the Byzantine Empire by 715 A.C.

The Future of Logos
I've been a big fan of script logos for some time now and every time I see one, I just save it in my 'scripts' folder. I think the future of logos is right there. Not necessarily in script but in custom made lettering. I mean why would you need to BUY a font, that is not even exclusive for the brand, just to write its name. I think designers should advise more companies to have a custom made font, if not for their corporate font, at least for the their logo. What a better way to be unique?

Loft Investments
I was walking in Achrafieh the other day when I accidentally came across a logo I had done. It's always nice to see your work in real and even nicer when it's unexpected.
I was wondering however why I had chosen this font. It wasn't something I would normally use. I opened my files again and noticed that the client actually wanted a lifting and not a brand new logo. He also wanted to keep the same font style and the dashed stroke. Everything made more sense...
